Who is still here my dudes

( struggling to find good art platforms. considering showing up here again despite thinking better of it a year ago ) thoughts?
Hey there!

So, I don't really know who's still around at this point but I figured this was worth writing anyway. I wanted to let you know I'm 'officially' taking my leave from deviantArt. I've been very inactive the past few years and attempted to get back into the swing of things a few times but to no real avail. And after a few recent policy changes that deviantart made, I really don't feel comfortable posting my art on this site anymore.

It was a pretty great seven years ( Wow!! Seven years! ), and I'll always appreciate the good things this site gave me , it was a great place where I met a lot of really fantastic people and got to share my art publicly for the first time. I think that's pretty swell. Thanks so much to everyone who watched me grow through these past years, from folks who saw me through the 'warriors' years and those who hopped in on the tail end of things and got to see me drawing my terrible characters for the first time. I really do appreciate the love you've given me.

I don't see myself regularly uploading to this site anymore, perhaps one day in the future I'll wander back to do something like adoptables OTC's etc. I don't want to say I will never ever use deviantArt again because god knows maybe in the near future it'll clean up it's act and become more of the booming site it once was but I don't see it being very likely, hence this update. My oldest deviations are in storage so I can still look at them, but the rest of my gallery is going to stay up as it is, I don't feel a huge desire to close the account. I might bounce on now and then to poke around a few things but I'm not really going to be posting actively anymore. Deviantart will not be a good place to follow my work or contact me.

But!! My friends, I still make art ( like a lot actually, I'm attending college for it ), and I still post it on the internet. If you're still interested in following my work you can do so in any of these places below.

PERSONAL TUMBLR;
starryevening.tumblr.com
( My art, personal posts, things I like, it's very active and essentially what I use now instead of deviantArt, you can message me there and see me upload things on a daily basis!)

ART ONLY TUMBLR;
clairedonaghue.tumblr.com
( just art posts! nothing but, sort of like a gallery )

( the real good stuff )

Thank you again for the great few years! I hope I can see some of you again on different platforms and just, thank you so much for helping keep me invested in art. Love you all and I hope to see you again soon! :heart:
Hey there!

So I'm not really aware of how many people are still around on this site but I totally lost interest and also sort of forgot about deviantArt while I was at school. Speaking of which man I'm in art school now and thats pretty cool and going pretty swell. Freshman year done going onto sophomore year next.

I think? I'd like to be a tad more active here again, but I don't want to make empty promises so! maybe??? But I don't really know who's around and what kind of scene is here now! I mainly post my art to tumblr but I think I'm going to try and start uploading a backlog of cool stuff I made in school. Maybe post some more character stuff I do here and all too.

Hope all is well on your fronts! And if you're still around hey thanks thats pretty neat. Hopefully I'll be around more often!

Lack of Activity Notice!

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 5, 2014, 8:09 PM

Hey there!! sorry so much I've been pretty darn inactive for the past few months. Senior year of high school, along with personal life stuff being messy and junk. But summer is here!! and I am (( pretty sure haha money;; )) going to be attending MCAD in the fall. So hopefully lots of art over the summer and in the future too! Thank you to people who have stuck around! :heart: you're super cool thank you.

Cleaning Up Gallery ( Important! Read. )

Journal Entry: Fri Nov 15, 2013, 8:57 PM

Hey guys! So in light of a few things, getting and older and such, I think it's time I finally go through my gallery and re-organize and clean out some of my older works. Don't worry I've been dreading doing this for awhile, but honestly it's time to get around to it.

I just wanted this to be a heads up to those of you who've commissioned art, I've made fan-art for etc, as some of the things I've drawn for you in the past may go into storage, if this occurs and you need to see your deviation again just send me a note!

If there enough people wanting me to keep the old work up, I may make a side account just to display some of my old junk, I get it, nostalgia is a thing and that's okay! But yeah, just a heads up guys!

Also no bites on commissions yet. Maaay have to adjust price. Aauauauhrg

Other Commissions!

See a style in my gallery somewhere that isn't listed that you really like? Maybe you're looking for a classical drawing, or something else. Perhaps you have a longer term project in mind, like a comic, animation or otherwise? That's okay! The commissions listed above are the ones I offer, but not exclusively. If you see something in my gallery you want, or have an idea that isn't listed above please feel free to send me a note or comment on this journal. I'd be happy to talk with you and give you a quote! ( And if enough people ask I'll happily add it to the above list ).

Things I can draw
Original characters, Fandom characters, Real people, Furries, Cats, Dogs, Wolves, foxes, Generally most animals ( Just keep in mind what I usually draw!), Still lives, portraits, Short comics, Animation, and more!

Things I cannot draw
For the most part I do not specialize in Mecha/tech art, Automobiles, and things of that nature. You're welcome to ask but it's not something I'm strong with. Propaganda art for causes I do not support, Etc. Note me about NSFW art, as some things I'm comfortable with ( mild amounts of tasteful nudity, gore, etc. ), but other things I may not be comfortable with. Okay? Okay! Generally, if you're not sure if I offer certain kinds of art, just ask!

General Information and Rules!
As a commissioner you can request for details of the drawing to be changed, and if it is a particularly large piece, you're welcome to ask for updates as I draw. You can post it on websites, profiles, etc. It would be wonderful if they could link my art back to me but is by no means a requirement. If you so desire I can record a speedpainting of your commission, and if it is done traditionally you're welcome to ask for the original to be mailed to you. I can also email you the original file, etc. You can also request that I not post the drawing on various websites and such. Depending on the size of the drawing you are entitled to know approximately how long the drawing will take to complete. Generally, small commissions take from 1-7 days, medium commissions, 1-2 weeks, and large commissions about a month. If I'm not making the drawing in a timely manner you can ask, and receive a full refund before I post the drawing.

When I make a commissioned work of art it is for the commissioner's personal use.  All I ask is that you do not make commercial reproductions of my art, or claim it as your own. I will not start your commission until I receive payment ( unless you have a specific arrangement with me stating otherwise ). Please be polite and reasonable with me! I'm still in high school and life stuff may happen now and then.

How to Commission Me

Send me a note, or Comment in response to this journal, or email me which commission and which style you would like ( if applicable ). Please include, a reference picture ( the more the merrier! ), and if so desired a brief description of the character's personality, or a pose you have in mind. The more specific you can get, the more likely it is your drawing will come out as you image it!

Contest idea? ( please read!! )

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 30, 2013, 11:47 PM

Hey there! so I'm thinking of doing a contest, but before I make it Official I want to make sure there's significant interest! And also see if I can collect some more things to give out as prizes!
The contest would look like this;

Idea
-You pick from a selection of 10 of my original characters to draw
( they range from humans, to anthros, to cats! so there would be a good variety to choose from )
-I judge on three categories, Creativity, accuracy to character, and technique.
-There's a winner and a runner up to each category, with a total of six winners each receiving prizes
Rules
- you just generally enter the contest, but you can most definitely make your work with one of the three categories in mind, but I'd like to do this so that you don't restrict yourself to categories you'd win!
-you can enter more than once, with a maximum of three drawings
-it is possible to win more than one category, but not with one drawing
-obvious things no plagiarizing/work stealing etc
prizes
-The three winners of each category receive;
A drawing request from me ( of any scale or type )
A chibi drawing from me
A promo spot on my dA page for a year
200-500Points( haven't decided yet )
possibly other prizes from other artists ( Need to talk to them first )

-The three runners up of each category receive;
A simple character drawing from me
A promo spot on my dA page for 6 months
100-300Points( less than the winners, yet to be decided )
possibly other prizes from other artists ( need to talk to them first )
Any other prize suggestions would be fantastic!! or volunteers to give out prizes or points for the cause would be phenomenal,

If this sounds cool to you please vote on this poll!!
[link]
If I get enough interest than I'll make it happen, I'll let this sit for a bit, I'm in the process of making the character reference sheet's I'll use as well, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Little talks

Journal Entry: Wed Mar 6, 2013, 9:29 AM

So today I stayed home from school. Just due to everything that's been going on lately. At noon I decided to walk downtown to buy some eggs some could make brownies for dinner.  So I walked downtown. I live on the top of the biggest steepest hill in The downtown area, called high st. After I bought my eggs I walked back up the hill.

I walked by a house that had a little porch and a old gentleman sitting outside. I glanced over. A bit surpised since it was snowing. He glanced over at me and smiled and said;

"Once you get to the top, it gets easier. And smile a little bit, you look cuter when you do! And believe it not smiling will make it easier too! And besides you look beautiful when you smile"

Somehow, I think he knew I wasn't sad about trying to get to my house at the top of the hill.

Thank you mister. I think you just made my week.

Temporary Closing of Commissions

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 10, 2013, 5:01 PM

Hey there! In light of dA's new Commission app, I'm going to temporarily close commissions to set it up. It's really attractive to me, since I can now earn real money for points.
What does this mean for you?
If you've already commissioned me or sent me a note before this journal, nothing is going to change your commission will come as soon as possible ( I'm currently a little overwhelmed with midterms at school, but they should be done within the month ). So don't worry. My prices really aren't going to change dramatically, very little honestly. I just want to set things up and make it look nice/test it out and such before reopening commissions. This is awesome, because now maybe I can finally start making some money off this I can put towards colleges, camps or drivers ed ( don't judge ). But yeah! Just a little update. I may not be active for the next week or two so don't be frightened, just got a lot of life stuff going on.

2013 Resolutions

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 31, 2012, 3:08 PM

I made some last year and lived up to about half of them, which I suppose is better than none, that journal can be found here for your amusement; starryevening.deviantart.com/j… Going to keep a few of the old ones and add some new ones

Complete Some Personal projects
There are some project ideas that I'd like to see through. They would look very nice in a portfolio and it will be good for you to finally finish a longterm project. I would like you to finish, or at least attempt any one of the following ideas that you've had floating in your head.
•Reference Animation
An Animation done completely by referencing your own film, have the film appear on one side and the animation on the other
•The Art Show 'Totem' project.
Mr.B wants the major art show project to be 'totem's' to ourselves. It's a dumb and egotistical idea, so make it about the people who have sort of made you who you are, not about yourself, because that's dumb and we both know that 'aint happening with your self confidence
•Revisit the "Color Your World" animation
You have some good ideas for it, and I'd love to see you re-make it longer, and perhaps with a more meaningful theme and better song choice. You can still use cats.
•"It's Time" Graduation Video
You have such a cool idea for that, seriously, I know you don't have a good camera, but feel free to you know, communicate to other people the idea, and draw up a storyboard I'm sure you can find some people who would find this idea to be cool.
•Memoir Comic
You've been talking about making a comic of some sort for years, and you keep getting tripped up by the plot, or lack thereof. So Do one about your life, at least then you don't have to worry about goddamn plot lines.

Start exercising and eating better, get fit
Oh man you really need to get your shit together. It was so easy eating better and getting fit at MECA, you looked great. I know Wilton is boring but try and walk more, walk while taking photos or experimenting with film. Moving is the most important part, but you definitely can eat better too. Less snacking, and smaller portions. Doesn't mean you can't have chocolate, just means you can't have like, a whole goddamn cake.

Get a Job
I know you're not exactly thrilled at the idea of commitment to a job but you need the money and the experience wouldn't be bad either. Even if it's just working at McDonalds. which would suck, but whatever.

Get Your Driver's License
Woman you haven't even taken Drivers Ed yet, come on, get on that shit ASAP. Or learn how to ride a bike for fuck's sake.

Keep Looking into Colleges
You've made some good work this year in looking into colleges, by going to camps, and national portfolio day, as well as getting guide books. Talk to mum and dad about some possible college visits, A lot of them are doable ( MECA, DCAD, RISD, Monserrat, PRATT, etc.) but see if we can push to go to either MCAD or SCAD at some point since they're furthest away. Also, try and get some more portfolio reviews in with the New England schools, there's no harm in it.

Keep experimenting with art
You've made some good headway this year and drawn a lot more people, which is great. But keep using more colors, and work with perspective and still life
